Founder & Lead Attorney

I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA in 1983, then went back to OU and obtained my Law Degree in 1990. Pierce Law Firm PC, based in Norman, Oklahoma, is my private law practice, where for the past 34 years I have been conducting primarily criminal litigation over nearly every county in the State of Oklahoma, 2 counties in Arkansas, Federal District Courts in Oklahoma and Texas, three Tribal Courts, and defended a soldier in an Article 32 Preliminary Hearing (murder charge) on the Fort Sill Army Base.

While I still frequently engage selectively in civil litigation (personal injury and other matters) as well as transportation law, few civil cases have gotten my juices flowing like fighting to keep a client out of prison.

As sole counsel I have defended clients in well over fifty serious crime jury trials and thousands of other criminal cases since 1990. Over this time, I have cultivated tremendous personal mettle – a battle-hardened core with a mantle of diplomacy and finesse. My wit and intellectual stamina have been tested in the fires of prolonged trials and by the stress of continuous back-to-the-wall fighting for my clients. My trial successes are directly related to my ability to understand and affect people’s perceptions about other people and about facts. I expose the small in the big, the weak in the powerful, the prey in the predator. I have spent my legal career persuading people to stop and question their own prejudices and agendas. This craft has universal applications, but I have primarily devoted my talent to defending the accused.

I have never prosecuted anyone in a criminal court. Unlike other lawyers who are proud of their days as “former” prosecutors when they worked to put people in prison, I have always followed my calling to defend the accused, as it best satisfies my soul. It is not necessary to have sent people to jail to know how to defend them, and prosecution creates a mindset that eventually, irretrievably, drains a lawyers compassion for the accused.

For those with an “impossible” case, I am a lawyer known for not being afraid to try cases. I will defend the smallest offenses, but I live to defend the hard cases – the high-stakes cases.

If you’ve been told “you’re going to prison”, if you’ve been caught red-handed, I’m the lawyer who will find a strategy. I believe there’s nothing too hard and nothing too small. So, let’s go see if we can “knock some heads”!

In the words of Teddy Roosevelt – “Far better is it to dare mighty things, than to take rank with those poor timid spirits who know neither victory nor defeat“
